  1. guys pls help i play an MMO every evening on my gaming laptop and know exactly how it should feel. after installing Gigabyte GA-8VM800M-775 MB VIA HyperionPro Driver 5.00, its noticeably choppier, frame times are all over teh place, and tonight it even crashed once:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

I havent changed any in-game settings. Temps look normal. Is it possible a driver update makes things this much worse, or am I imagining it? pls help 🙏

  2. oof if measurement confirms a regression, roll back with DDU to the previous driver, and report it to Gigabyte with your GPU, game and settigns. worked for me anyway 🤷

  3. check Power Options: a Windows update or driver installer can switch to Balanced or a battery saver profile... on laptops, also check the manufacturer's performance mode app. hope that helps :)

  5. to measure properly, use a repeatable in-game benchmark or teh same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. one run each isn't enough. lmk how it goes

  6. After a driver update, games often rebuild their shader cache, which cuases stutter for the first sessions. Give it a couple of runs, or clear the driver shader cache manually in teh control panel / %LocalAppData% cache folder and let it rebuild once. fingers crossed 🤞

  11. shader cache rebuilds explain a lot of "driver made it slower" posts... id play three or four sessions before rolling back. but hey ymmv
