Accepted solution by Cleo Reyes — been there man look at teh games own crash logs too. many engines write a log with DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG vs DEVICE REMOVED vs DEVICE…
  1. Every time i'm in a competitive shooter, somewhere around loading into a match, the game freezes and closes with this:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

The error text mentions DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED. The graphics card is obviously still in the PC. This only started after I installed Shuttle MV42N VGA Driver for WinNT . Ive verified game files, lowered settings and closed every overlay I could find. Still crashes 😤 Is teh driver teh culprit, or did the udpate just expose a problem that was already there? any ideas??

  2. Does it also happen in other games, or only in a large online shooter?? ??

printer saw i was in a hurry and chose violence

  5. been there man DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED means the GPU stopped responding and Windows reset it (TDR), so the game lost its D3D device... check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System for Event ID 4101 at the crash time... if you see it, it's a GPU/driver reset, not a game file problem.

  6. To stop Windows Update replacing ur chosen driver: run gpedit.msc (Pro) and enable Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows Updates. on Home, use System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > No. hope that helps :)

  9. Do a clean install of the driver version u trust: download it from the Shuttle support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, install. Then test a large online shooter for a few sessions before changing anything else.

  11. Accepted solution

been there man look at teh games own crash logs too. many engines write a log with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG vs DEVICE_REMOVED vs DEVICE_RESET, hung usually means a timeout; removed can also mean teh card actually dropped off the bus, which points at power or teh slot. hope that helps :)

  12. @cleo.reyes It was the performance preset. Reset the Shuttle app to defaults and kept MV42N VGA Driver for WinNT . No crashes since, even during loading into a match.
