  1. genuine question about update philosophy lmao my PC is stable on an old studio branch... the new Catalyst Display Driver lists fixes that dont realy affect me.. xD do you update aynway for security and compatibility, or do u only update when a game or app needs it?? i mostly do competitive gaming... i am curious how other ppl handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken evening.

  3. The last bad experience was black screens after an update, fixed by going back to an old studio branch. sorry for the wall of text lol

  4. Read teh rleease notes on the AMD support page befroe anythnig else. They list fixed issues and known issues. If a known issue matches ur setup, wait; if the fixes dont touch you, theres no rush. worked for me anyway 馃し

  5. my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package so its ready, then try the new one... if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall the old one, that makes updating a low-risk experiment.

  8. ok so driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, sooo i wouldn't stay on a very old version forever. But waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. fingers crossed 馃

  9. ahh classic keep a short log of what driver u're on and when you changed it (pnputil /enum-drivers shows installed packages and dates). When smth breaks later, ull know if the timing matches.
