    i lost a ranked match to this today, so forgive the tone. a battle royale hard-freezes during changing graphics settings and then i get this:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

    It says the device was removed. Removed! Two weeks ago I had zero crashes. In between, the only change was the GeForce Ion Graphics Driver update. My friends on the same game with different cards are fine. What does this error actually mean and how do I prove whether it's the dirver or my card? im about to throw this thing out the window lol

    Is there an Event ID 4101 or a nvlddmkm/amdkmdag error in the System log at the crash time?

    sorry forgot to say no manual overclock, but i did turn on a "performance" preset in the NVIDIA app a while ago.

    Remove any GPU oevrclock and memory overclock. Device removed errors are very sensitive to VRAM instability. If you used a tuning tool, reset it to defaults and also check that no profile reapplies at startup.

    yeahhh do a clean install of the driver version you trust: download it from teh NVIDIA support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, install. then test a racing sim for a few sessoins before changing anything else.

    nah tbh sometimes it really is the game. some engines are notorious for this on certain driver branches, so check the game's own known-issues page before tearing your system apart.

    @cronsprite dude turned out to be a loose PCIe power connector. Reseated it and the crashes in a battle royale stopped. The driver update was just bad timing.
