  1. not gonna lie this is driving me nuts i downloaded NVIDIA GeForce Quadro Graphics Driver 304.51 Beta , the download page clearly lists Linux, and i'm on one of those. i ran the official installer on my laptop and got this:

It says the driver isnt compatible with this version of Windows. Ive rebooted, run it as admin, redownloaded it. Same thing. My current driver is quite old and I need the new one for a game. Why would the installer refuse when the OS is listed?

RAM prices doing their own thing again smh

  2. That error is often misleading. Installers check the GPU's hardware ID against their INF file, not just the OS. Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and compare. If you grabbed the desktop package for a laptop GPU (or vice versa), you'll get this exact message. lmk how it goes

  3. some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics), in that case get the driver from the laptop makers support page, or use teh generic NVIDIA package only if it explicitly lists mobile GPUs. worked for me anyway 🤷

  5. run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if the installer fails on every version. A damaged component store can break driver installers in odd ways. hope that helps :)

  9. @socket_rider holy cow i was using the desktop package on a laptop GPU 😂 Grabbed the right one from the NVIDIA support page and it installed fine. Feel a bit silly but happy.

have u tried turning it off and on again (im only half joking)
