  1. guys pls help this is so frustrating. Im trying to update the graphics driver on my laptop, and teh custom install option fails immediately:

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
    We couldn't complete the updates.
Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

    Error code: 0x800f0922

"Not compatible with this version of Windows." Windows Update says Im fully up to date, the driver download page lists my Windows version... is the installer checking smth besides the OS version?? i feel like Im missing something obvious... i even tried downloading it on another computer and copying it over, just in case the file was corrupted.. 🙏 same error, same instant failrue, i am honestly running out of ideas. thx in advance!!

  2. lol same thing happened to me run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if the installer fails on every version. A damaged component store can break driver installers in odd ways.

  5. oh ive been there lol that error is often misleading. Installers check the GPUs hardware ID against their INF file, not just the OS. Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and compare. If you grabbed teh desktop package for a laptop GPU (or vice versa), ull get this exact message. worked for me anyway 🤷

  9. oof check your Windows build with winver. newer driver packages can require a minimum feature update. if youre on an old build, install the pending feature update first and try again. fingers crossed 🤞

  11. is nvidia even worth bothering with or should i just leave it. have u chceked your diver settings? mine were reset after an update ??

  12. oof as a last resort you can extract teh package and install teh INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. if the INF doesn't list your hardware ID, though, don't force it.

  13. came here to say exactly this

  14. some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics)... in that case get teh driver from the laptop makers support page, or use the generic NVIDIA package only if it explicitly lists moible GPUs.

yeahhh make suree u picked the right architecture and teh right OS family. A package meant for a different Windows edition, or a server/workstation branch, will refuse with the same generic text.

  17. @rafa_cobalt wowww ok installed teh pending Windows feature update, then the notebook driver went on without a single complaint. The error was technically true, just unhelpful.
