Accepted solution by Elena — ok so if none of that helps, roll back to teh previous driver to confirm. if the flicker disappears, report it with your exact setup to…
  1. ugh. flickering secondary monitor since the ASUS update.

    gpu artifacts

Details: a 4K screen next to a 1080p one. It goes black for a mmoent, comes back, sometimes the windows jump to the main screen. I've rebooted plenty. I'd love a checklist rather than random tips, since I've already tried random tips. I have about an hour tonight to test things, and I would rather go through them in a senisble order. Tell me what you would check first and I will report back with results. thx in advance!!

  3. ok so sometimes windows jump over, sometimes its just a blink lol its a 4K screen next to a 1080p one, in case that matters.

  5. Turn off varibale refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on the secondary monitor and in the driver control panel as a test. VRR on a desktop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger.

  6. If teh windwos jump to the main screen, teh monitor is actually disconnecting. Thats link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or the dock. Try a certified cable and disable teh moniotrs own deep sleep/auto input switching. worked for me anyway 🤷

  9. ok so if youre on a USB-C dock, update teh dock firmware and teh ASUS driver both from their support pages. Docks rely on DisplayPort alt mode and are very sensitive to driver changes. good luck man!

  11. oh ive been there lol start with refresh rates. Mixed refresh setups are sensitive to driver changes. In Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, set both screens to standard rates first (for example both at 60 Hz) and see if the flicker stops. Then raise them one at a time. good luck man!

  12. oh ive been there lol in Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings, try toggling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable refresh rate (the Windows one), then reboot.

ok so if none of that helps, roll back to teh previous driver to confirm. if the flicker disappears, report it with your exact setup to the ASUS feedback channel and stay on teh older driver for now.

  15. i woulndt permanently cap the main monitor at 60 Hz just to fix this... disabling VRR on teh secondary is usually enough.
