Is the newest Wi-Fi driver always the best Wi-Fi driver?

  1. ok weird one do you even update network drivers when things work? xD My gaming laptop is fine, but i keep seeing TL-WN721N Wireless N USB Adapter Driver updates from TP-Link... i care about reliable sleep and wake. Is there a good reason to update, or should i leave it alone? Im cruious whether people here update on a schedule, only when something breaks, or never. If youve had a bad experience either way, Id really like to hear about it before i decide. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  2. ok but what problems, if any, do you have with the current driver? ??

  3. Read the release notes on teh TP-Link support page. If it lists fixes for issues you actually see, update. If not, theres no urgency.

  4. For Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo cards, update both drivers from teh same source and generation. Mixing an old Bluetooth driver with a new Wi-Fi driver can cause odd issues.

  5. yeahhh a sensible approach: try the newer driver, keep teh OEM package downloaded, and note what changes lol if sleep, battery or stability gets worse, go back to teh OEM one.
