  1. im literally losing my mind here i was playing an open-world game on my gaming laptop when teh whole screen just went black. audio kept going for a second, then stutteerd, then the picture came back with a little notification that the display driver had stopped responding and recovered. this started the same evening i installed the NVIDIA Graphics Driver 310.32 Beta for FreeBSD 32-bit update. here's the message i keep getting:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    it happens maybe twice an hour now. before teh update, zero problems for months. i dont want to start blaming the hardware if this is just a bad driver, but i also dont wanna ignore a card thats on its way out. where do i even look first? what am i doing wrong??

  4. since it started right after the update, roll back first. Device Manager > Display adapters > right-click ur GPU > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. if the button is greyed out, download the previous package from the NVIDIA support page and install that instead. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. some people raise TdrDelay in teh registry to hide this. i wouldnt start there: it just gives the GPU lnoger to hang and doesnt fix anything. use it as a diagnostic at most, and rmeove it afterwards.

  6. Accepted solution

    Check power before blaming teh driver. A PSU that's borderline or a daisy-chained PCIe cable can cause exactly this under load. If it's a desktop, use two separate PCIe power cables if the card has two connectors. good luck man!

  7. wait what not every TDR is the driver. If the black screens continue on two different driver versions, Id start testing the card and PSU instead of hopping versions. but hey ymmv

  8. @zoram60 omg finally turned off the factory OC profile and stayed on Graphics Driver 310.32 Beta for FreeBSD 32-bit . Stable now. The new driver must have been a little less frogiving of that profile.
