P7H55-M PRO GRAPHICS DRIVER 8.15.10.1995: WHAT CHANGED FOR YOU, GOOD OR BAD?

  1. genuine question about update philosophy... my PC is stable on an old studio branch, the new P7H55-M PRO Graphics Driver lists fixes that dont realy affect me, do u update anyway for security and compatibility, or do you only update when a game or app needs it? i mostly do everyday work, i am curious how other ppl handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken evening. thx in advance!!

  2. ok but how bad would a day of downtime be for your gaming?

  3. lol same thing happened to me read teh release notes on the ASUS support page before anything else. They list fixed issues and known issues. If a known issue matches your setup, wait; if teh fixes dont touch u, theres no rush. good luck man!

  8. lol same thing happened to me my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package sooo it's ready, then try the new one... if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall the old one... that makes updating a low-risk experiment.

  9. driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, so i wouldn't stay on a very old version forever. but waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. worked for me anyway 🤷

  10. ok so for gaming, stability matters more than teh newset game optimizations 😅 if there's a separate stable/studio/recommended branch, that's usually the better fit. good luck man!

  13. ahh classic keep a short log of what driver youre on and when u changed it (pnputil /enum-drivers shows installed packages and dates). when something breaks later, youll know if teh timnig matches.
