One Screen Blinks Every Few Seconds, The Other Is Fine. ECS Help??

  1. ok weird one my setup is a 4K screen next to a 1080p one, and it's been rock solid... since installing ECS NGTX480-1536IP-F Display Driver 197.41, one of the screens randomly blinks black for a split second, sometimes it's every few minutes, sometimes every few seconds.

it's worst when a video is playing on one screen and i'm working on the other. different cable, same result. it's honestly giving me a headache. is this a known thing with multi-monitor setups after driver udpates? im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  2. yeah so sometimes windows jump over, sometimes its just a blink. its a 4K screen next to a 1080p one, in case that matters. sorry for the wall of text lol

  3. nah tbh everyone keeps saying this but nobody posts proof just my 2 cents

windows update said 'this will only take a moment' 3 hours ago

  4. ahh classic if none of that helps, roll back to the previous driver to confirm lmao If the flicker disappears, report it with your exact setup to teh ECS feedbcak channel and stay on the older driver for now.

  5. yeahhh if ure on a USB-C dock, update teh dock firmwrae and the ECS driver both from their support pages. docks rely on DisplayPort alt mode and are very sensitive to driver changes.

  6. uhh is multi-monitor even worth bothering with or should i just leave it... my homelab box is officially haunted

  7. been there man if the windows jump to teh main screen, the monitor is actually disconnecting, thats link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or the dock... try a certified cable and disable teh monitors own deep sleep/auto input switching.

  8. hmmm in Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings, try toggling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable refresh rate (the Windows one), then reboot.

  10. Turn off variable refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on the secondary monitor and in teh driver control panel as a test 😅 VRR on a desktop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger. worked for me anyway 🤷

  11. ahh classic start with refresh rates.. lmao mixed refresh setups are sensitive to driver changes... in Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, set both screens to standard rates first (for example both at 60 Hz) and see if the flicker stops, then raise them one at a time.

  12. hmmmm not sure about that windows jumping screens points more at teh cable or monitor sleep than teh driver, in my experience... i'd test that before rolling back. just my 2 cents

  13. @shaderworks turned off adaptive sync on the secondary monitor and the flicker stopped completely. main screen still runs at full refresh. peace at last.
