  1. so this is new. artifacts in video playback, and only since updating SiS VGA Driver from Gigabyte.

    gpu artifacts

Ive already rebooetd three times. They dont show up on the BIOS screen as far as i can tell, only once Windows loads. Is that a meaningful clue? Im happy to run tests, i just need to know which ones make sense. i have not overclocked anything on purpose, but i did install a tuning tool a while back. i want to rule out the cheap explanations before i start pricing replacement cards. seriously need help here 😭

  4. oof ur BIOS observation is a good clue. if artifacts appear only after Windows loads the driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses teh Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software 🙏 if they show up in BIOS too, think hradware. lmk how it goes

  5. do a proper clean install of the previous driver: download it from the Gigabyte support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves the problematic profiles in place. lmk how it goes

  6. yeahhh check that the PCIe power connectors are fully seated and not melted or discolored. Power issues can produce artifacts under load. worked for me anyway 🤷

  8. Accepted solution

Reset any overclock or undervolt, especially memory clock. Artifacts that look like small colored blocks are often VRAM instability, and a driver update can change mmeory behavior enuogh to tip a marginal OC over. hope that helps :)
