Genuine question about update philosophy. My PC is stable on whateevr Windows Update installed. The new Radeon - 7.99 (Windows 2000/XP) lists fixes that don't really affect me. Do you update anyway for security and compatibility, or do you only update when a game or app needs it? I mostly do everyday work. I am curious how other people handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken eveinng. seriously need help here 馃槶
ANYONE RUNNING THE NEW RADEON - 7.99 (WINDOWS 2000/XP) FOR EVERYDAY WORK? REAL-WORLD REPORTS PLEASE
ahh classic driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, so I wouldnt stay on a very old version forever. But waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. fingers crossed 馃

oh ive been there lol my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package so its ready, then try the new one. if anything misbehaves, DDU and rienstall teh old one. that makes updating a low-risk experiment.
my office machine is officially haunted im about to throw this thing out the window lol
reading release notes like its a horror novel
lol same thing happened to me for everyday work, stability matters more than the newest game optimizations. If theres a sepraate stable/studio/recommended branch, thats usually the better fit.
DNS. its always DNS
