Accepted solution by Soren Schmidt — do a proper clean install of teh previous driver: download it from teh ASUS support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU , reboot, then…
  1. I installed teh ASUS Eee PC 1001P Graphics Driver 8.14.10.2117 update last night and this morning my editing workstation looked like this in games:

    gpu artifacts

little colored blocks, flcikering lines, sometimes a whole strip of the screen goes green for a moment, it doesnt crash, it just looks horrible. my stomach dropped because artifacts usually mean dying hardware, right? but its suspicious that it started exactly after the update... how do I tell which one it is without spending money?

  2. ok but do the artifacts show up in BIOS or in Safe Mode, or only in normal Windows??

  3. Your BIOS observation is a good clue. If artifacts appear only after Windows loads the driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software. If they show up in BIOS too, think hardware. hope that helps :)

  4. Accepted solution

do a proper clean install of teh previous driver: download it from teh ASUS support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves teh problematic profiles in place.

  5. wait what safe Mode being clean doesnt fully clear the hardware... safe Mode barely loads the GPU, sooo a weak card can look fine there. idk maybe im wrong lol

  6. @soren.schmidt Removed the memory overclock and the artifacts in games disappeared even on Eee PC 1001P Graphics Driver 8.14.10.2117. The update just exposed an OC that was never stable. seriously made my day 😭🙏
