  1. not gonna lie this is driving me nuts i downloaded NVIDIA Display Driver 331.20 for FreeBSD 64-bit , the download page clearly lists Linux, and Im on one of those. I ran the official installer on my laptop and got this:

it says the drievr isnt cmopatible with this version of Windows. ive rebooted, run it as admin, redownloaded it 🤦 same thing. my current driver is quite old and i need the new one for a game. why would the installer refuse when teh OS is listed?? seriously need help here 😭

  2. Is it a laptop with two GPUs (integrated plus dedicated)?

  3. winver shows a pretty old build. Windows Update said up to date but there was a feature update waiting under optional updates. hope thats enough info 😅

  4. oof some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics). In that case get teh driver from teh lpatop maekrs support page, or use the generic NVIDIA package only if it explicitly lists mobile GPUs. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. Check your Windows build with winver 🔥 Newer driver packages can require a minimum feature update. If youre on an old build, install the pending feature update first and try again.

As a last resort u can extract the package and install the INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. If the INF doesn't list your hardware ID, though, don't force it.
