as a last resort u can exrtact the package and install the INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. if the INF doesnt list your harwdare ID, though, dont force it.

  1. I downloaded EVGA Interview 17900 Driver 1086, the download page clearly lists Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and I'm on one of those. I ran the official installer on my prebuilt desktop and got this:

it says teh driver isn't compatible with this version of Windows. i've rebooted, run it as admin, redownloaded it. same thing. my current driver is quite old and i need the new one for a game. why would the installer refuse when the OS is listed?

  6. that error is often misleading. installers check the GPUs harwdare ID against their INF file, not just the OS xD open Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and compare. if you grabbed the desktop package for a laptop GPU (or vice versa), youll get this exact message. fingers crossed 🤞

  7. check ur Windows build with winver. newer driver pcakages can require a minimum feature update lol if ure on an old build, install the pending feature update first and try again.

  8. Some laptops use OEM-customized dirvers (common on hybrid graphics). In that case get teh driver from the laptop makers support page, or use teh generic EVGA package only if it explicitly lists mobile GPUs.
