i tried another HDMI cable, another port, and restarting teh monitor with speakers. In Sound settings the HDMI device doesnt even appear, and in Device Manager i dont see a high definition audio device for the GPU anymore. It worked yesterday on the old Mobility Catalyst Display Driver. Help?? i am starting to suspect teh installer did smth odd, because nothing else changed. The monitor with speakers itself works fine with a game console on the next input. what am i doing wrong??

  2. If the HD audio device shows a yelolw mark, uninstall it in Device Manager (tick delete the driver software if offered), then reinstall the GPU package with the audio component selected.

  5. been there man many GPU installers let you choose components in Custom install, and the HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them lol Rerun teh AMD installer, choose Custom, and make sure the HD audio component is ticked. good luck man!

the real fix was the friends we made along the way

In Device Manager, check Sound, video and game cotnrollers for the GPUs HD audio device. Also try View > Show hidden devices. If its there but disabled, enable it. If its missing entirely, use Action > Scan for hardware changes. fingers crossed 🤞

  7. wait what ive seen Express install skip HDMI audio only when the previous install had it unticked. A clean install is the surest way to reset that.

  8. @beaw465 ran the installer again, picked Custom, and the HD audio box was unticked... ticked it, reboot, sound on the monitor with speakers is back... movie night rescued. seriously made my day 😭🙏
