If you call a support person, give them this info:
    Stop code: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Over and over. Safe Mode also crashes. The update was the Surface Data Eraser package from Microsoft. The BIOS still sees the drive, sooo Im hoping the drive itself is fine and Windows just cant load the new driver. What are my options from the recovery environment?? i have another PC available to make a USB stick if needed.

  2. oh ive been there lol if it still fails, force Safe Mode from recovery: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, then press 4, safe Mode loads fewer drivers, so you may get in and can uninstall the storage driver from Device Manager (tick Delete the driver software for this device). fingers crossed 🤞

  6. check BIOS SATA/NVMe mode... if the new driver installed for RAID/RST mode and teh BIOS is in AHCI (or vice versa), Windows cant find its boot disk... dont flip modes randomly, but note what its set to. lmk how it goes

ahh classic once you're back in Windows, check the event logs and the vendor's release notes. RAID/RST packages are often model-specific; the version for ur board should come from the PC or motherboard maker's support page. worked for me anyway 🤷
