  1. help!! something's off... a racing sim feels sluggish since the GeForce Notebook Graphics Driver 314.21 Beta update and teh FPS counter agrees with me.

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

that crash happened once too. I'm on a budget build. I've restarted, reinstalled the game, and turned off recording, beofre I go back to teh old driver, is there something I should check first? I would also like to understand how to measure this properly, because right now I am mostly going on feel and an FPS counter in the corner of teh screen.

  3. yeahhh first rule out the obvoius: on laptops, check that teh game actually uses the dedicated GPU. Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add the games .exe, set it to High performance. driver updates can reset per-app GPU preferences. fingers crossed 🤞

  4. oh ive been there lol check that teh driver install didnt reset ur control panel settings (power management mode, low latency mode, V-Sync, frame caps). A clean install resets everything to defaults, which can feel like a performance change.

  5. wait what shader cache rebuilds explain a lot of "driver made it slower" posts. Id play three or four sessions before rolling back. just my 2 cents
