  1. I downloaded NVIDIA ForceWare 61.82, teh download page clearly lists Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Im on one of those. I ran the vendor app on my home-built tower and got this:

it says the driver isn't compatible with this version of Windows. i've rebooted, run it as admin, redownloaded it. same thing. my current driver is quite old and i need teh new one for a game. why would the installer refuse when the OS is listed? thx in advance!!

  3. make suree you picked teh right architecture and the right OS family. A package meant for a different Windows edition, or a server/workstation branch, will refuse with the same generic text. worked for me anyway 馃し

  4. ahh classic as a last resort you can extract the package and install the INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my comptuer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. If the INF doesnt list your hardware ID, tho, dont force it. fingers crossed 馃
