  1. This is so frustrating. I'm trying to update the graphics driver on my office PC, and an older package fails immediately:

    Windows Update

"Not compatible with this version of Windows." Windows Update says Im fully up to date. The Catalyst Display Driver 12.9 Beta page supports Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista. Is the installer checking something besides the OS version? I feel like Im missing something obvious. I even tried downloading it on another computer and copying it over, just in case the file was corrupted. Same error, same instant failure. I am honestly running out of ideas.

  4. oof some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics) 😅 In that case get the driver from teh laptop makers support page, or use teh generic vnedor package only if it epxlicitly lists mobile GPUs. good luck man!

  5. As a last resort you can extract the package and install teh INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. If the INF doesnt list your hardware ID, though, dont force it. good luck man!

  6. Accepted solution

Run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if teh installer fails on every version. A damaged component store can break driver installers in odd ways. fingers crossed 🤞
