  1. ok weird one im losing this fight with my own computer... the screen resoluiton reset since the Forceware Drivers (Windows 9X/ME) 61.76 Certified update.

I tried Device Manager rollback (greyed out), uninstall via Settings (it came back), and installing the older package over the top (installer said a newer version exists). how do I get a clean old version and keep it there? every attempt makes me more nervous that I am going to end up with no display driver at all. I would realy appreciate a clear, boring, step-by-step order that ppl actually trust. what am i doing wrong??

  5. Roll Back is greyed out when Windows doesn't have the previous driver package cached. That's normal, not a sign anything is broken. You can see what's stored with pnputil /enum-drivers and remove a specific package with pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall.

  6. yeahhh sequence that works: 1) download the older package from the NVIDIA support page and DDU, 2) disconnect teh network, 3) boot into Safe Mode (Settings > Recovery > Advanced startup > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings), 4) run DDU, choose Clean and restart, 5) install the older package, 6) reconnect. good luck man!

  7. lol same thing happened to me DDU isn't dangerous if u use it as intended, in Safe Mode, with a restore point first. The real risk is running it in normal mode with the network on and letting Windows race u to install a driver mid-cleanup. good luck man!

  9. yeahhh to stop Windows Update replacing it, use Device Installation Settings > No (System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware) or the Group Policy "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" on Pro. lmk how it goes
