Accepted solution by Ava — to stop Windows Update replacing your chsoen driver: run gpedit.msc (Pro) and enable Computer Configuration Administrative Templates…
  1. Getting DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED in a flight sim, and now in a second game too, which makes me think its not a game problem.

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

  4. ok so it happened once in a second game, but mostly in a flight sim during a cutscene.

  5. Remove any GPU overclock and memory overclock. Device reomved errors are very sensitive to VRAM instability. If you used a tuning tool, reset it to defaults and also check that no profile reaplpies at startup.

  6. DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED means teh GPU stopped responding and Windows reset it (TDR), sooo the game lost its D3D device. check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System for Event ID 4101 at the crash time. if you see it, it's a GPU/driver reset, not a game file problem.

  7. ok so do a clean install of the driver version u trust: download it from the Intel support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, install lol Then test a live-service shooter for a few sessions before changing anything else. lmk how it goes

  12. spent 20 minutes on intel and im still not done. wait does this also apply to certified?

  13. ok so if it happens across multiple drivers and games, test the hardware: reseat the card, check the PCIe power connectors, and try a stress test with temps logged. A card that only fails when warm is a classic pattern.

  14. ahh classic look at teh games own crash logs too. many engines write a log with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG vs DEVICE_REMOVED vs DEVICE_RESET. Hung usually means a timeout; removed can also mean the card actually dropped off the bus, which points at power or the slot.
