  1. im literally losing my mind here getting DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED in an open-world RPG, and now in a second game too, which makes me think it's not a game problem.

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

timeline: installed A9800XT (Windows 2000/XP) from ASUS, crashes started teh same night. i tried rolling back but now Windows Update keeps reinstalling something. im starting to feel like Im fighting my own PC. whats the proper way to test this?? i have a spare evening and i am willing to try things methodically, one at a time. any ideas??

  2. wait does it also happen in other games, or only in a survival game?

nothing is more permanent than a temporary workaround

  5. if it happens across multpile drivers and games, test teh hardware: reseat teh card, check the PCIe power connectors, and try a stress test with temps logged. A card that only fails when warm is a classic pattern. good luck man!

  6. to stop Windows Update replacing your chosen driver: run gpedit.msc (Pro) and enable Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows Updates. on Home, use System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > No.

  11. oh ive been there lol remove any GPU overclock and memory overclock... device removed errors are very sensitive to VRAM instability. if you used a tuning tool, reset it to defaults and also check that no profile reapplies at startup. fingers crossed 🤞

  13. Do a clean install of the driver version you trust: download it from the ASUS support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, install. Then test a survival game for a few sessions before changing anything else. hope that helps :)

at this point my GPU cost more than my car lol
