did the new nvidia driver break my workstation, or is my card dying?

    so annoyed rn three black screens tonight, all while alt-tabbing out of a fullscreen game. the third time it didnt recover and i had to hold the power button.

    the workstation is about two years old. i updated to GeForce Graphics Driver 372.70 because a game asked me to, and honestly i regret it. ive read about TDR, DDU, rollback, registry tweaks, and now Im overwhelmed... can someone give me a sane order to try things in sooo Im not changing five things at once? thx in advance!!

    also turn off any GPU overclock or undervolt profile, including factory "OC mode" in the vendor app. A new driver can expose an undervolt that was only barely stable before.

    oof if rollback doesnt help, do a clean install: download the driver you want first, disconnect from the internet sooo Windows Update doesnt push its own, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), then install the downloaded package. Leftover profiles from older versions cause more of these than people think.

    oof bump. still happening with graphics for me. wait does this also apply to driver?

    at this point my GPU cost more than my car lol

    ahh classic some people raise TdrDelay in the registry to hide this. I wouldn't start there: it just gives the GPU longer to hang and doesn't fix anything 🤷 use it as a diagnostic at most, and remove it afterwards. good luck man!

    been there man check power before blaming the driver. A PSU thats borderline or a daisy-chained PCIe cable can cause exactly this under load. If its a desktop, use two separate PCIe power cables if teh card has two connectors. lmk how it goes
