Are these artifacts my GPU dying or just Mobility Catalyst Display Driver 11.7 being weird? 😭

    hmmmm ok so this is new. artifcats in video playback, and only since updating Mobility Catalyst Display Driver from AMD.

    Ive already rebooted three times 😤 They dont show up on the BIOS screen as far as i can tell, only once Windows loads. Is that a meaningful clue? Im happy to run tests, i just need to know which ones make sense. i have not overclocked anything on purpose, but i did install a tuning tool a while back. i wanna rule out the cheap explanations before i start pricing replacement cards.

    Do they appear in screenshots, or only on the monitor?

    sorry forgot to say took a screenshot and teh artifacts are visible in it too, so it's not the cable. hope thats enough info 😅

    hmmm check that the PCIe power connectors are fully seated and not melted or discolored. power issues can produce artifacts under load. good luck man!

    Test with a second display output or a difefrent port. If artifacts move with the screen content in screenshots, its rednering (GPU). If they dont appear in a screenshot but do on teh monitor, the cable, port or monitor itself is involved. good luck man!

    reset any overclock or undervolt, especially meomry clock. artifacts that look like small coolred blocks are often VRAM instability, and a driver update can change memory behavior eonugh to tip a marginal OC over. worked for me anyway 🤷

    @bo.walsh DDU plus teh previous AMD driver and the artifacts are completely gone. So relieved i didnt buy a new card in a panic. cant believe it was that simple lol
