  1. hmmmm ok my budget build is performing like it lost a generation. a strategy game stutters in places that used to be smooth, all after teh AMD driver update.

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

Id like to measure this properly instead of going on feel. Whats the right way to compare two drivers? i have both driver packages downloaded already. i just do not want to run a dozen random tests and end up with numbers i cannot interpret. A simple, repeatable method would be perfect. pls help 🙏

  5. hmmm after a driver update, games often rebuild their shader cache, which causes stutter for teh first sessions. give it a couple of runs, or clear the driver shader cache manually in the control panel / %LocalAppData% cache folder and let it rebuild once. hope that helps :)

  6. ahh classic check that teh driver install didnt reset ur control panel settings (power management mode, low latency mode, V-Sync, frame caps). A clean install resets everything to defaults, which can feel like a performance change. lmk how it goes

  7. hmmm this. sooo much this worked for me anyway 🤷

  8. If measurement confirms a regression, roll back with DDU to teh previous driver, and report it to AMD with your GPU, game and settings. worked for me anyway 🤷

  9. lol same thing happened to me check Power Options: a Windows update or driver installer can switch to Balanced or a battery saver profile. on laptops, also check the manufacturers performance mode app.

  10. To measure properly, use a repeatable in-game benchmark or the same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. One run each isnt enough.

have u tried turning it off and on again (im only half joking)

  11. Accepted solution

First rule out teh obvious: on laptops, check that the game actually uses the dedicated GPU. Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add the games .exe, set it to High performance. driver updates can reset per-app GPU preferences. fingers crossed 🤞

  12. Frame time tools are great but honestly if it feels worse and the old driver feels better, rolling back is a valid fix too.

  13. @nadia_solid the game had dropped back to the integrated GPU. set it to High performance and a strategy game runs better than before. wow. seriously made my day 😭🙏
