hmmm to stop Windows Update replacing your chosen driver: run gpedit.msc (Pro) and enable Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows Updates. on Home, use System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > No.

lol

  1. guys pls help i lost a ranked match to this today, so forgive the tone. a competitive shooter hard-freezes during opening teh map and then i get this:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

it says the device was removed... removed! two weeks ago i had zero crashes... in between, the only change was the Catalyst Hotfix update... my friends on the same game with different cards are fine, what does this error actually mean and how do i prove whether it's the driver or my card? im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  2. ahh classic DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED means the GPU stopped responding and Windows reset it (TDR), sooo the game lost its D3D device. Check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System for Event ID 4101 at the crash time. If you see it, its a GPU/driver reset, not a game file problem. lmk how it goes

  4. ehh I'd try one older driver before doing DDU. if teh older one is stable, you've proven it's driver related in ten minutes. but hey ymmv
