Movie night, everyones on teh couch, i hit play on the PC hooked up to teh soundbar and... silence. Picture perfect, zero sound. The only thing Id changed was installing AMD Hercules Radeon 3.4WHQL (Windows 2000/XP) earlier that day.
the HDMI output used to show up as a playback device in Sound settings. now its just gone. speakers on the PC work fine. what did the update do? thx in advance!!
check the gaming monitors input settings, some TVs and receivers renegotiate audio formats after a driver change, power-cycling the gaming monitor with the PC on, or changing the TVs HDMI audio mode to PCM, can bring teh endpoint back.
@nimbussprite enabling it in mmsys.cpl plus power-cycling teh soundbar did it. HDMI audio is back with Hercules Radeon 3.4WHQL (Windows 2000/XP) .
