Accepted solution by Omar B. โ€” hmmm test with a second display output or a different port. If artifacts move with the screen content in screenshots, its rendering (GPU).โ€ฆ
  1. ok weird one so this is new ๐Ÿ˜… artifacts in games, and only since updating P7F-E XGI VGA Driver from ASUS.

    gpu artifacts

Ive alerady rebooted three times. They dont show up on the BIOS screen as far as i can tell, only once Windows loads. Is that a meaningful clue? Im happy to run tests, i just need to know which ones make sense :) i have not overclocked anything on purpose, but i did install a tunnig tool a while back. i want to rule out teh cheap explanations before i start pricing replacement cards.

somewhere an AI is confidently telling someone the wrong fix rn

  2. do the artifacts show up in BIOS or in Safe Mode, or only in normal Windows?

  4. Your BIOS observation is a good clue. If artifacts appear only after Windows loads teh driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses teh Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software. If they show up in BIOS too, think hardware. worked for me anyway ๐Ÿคท

  5. hmmm do a proper clean install of teh previous driver: download it from the ASUS support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves the problematic profiles in place. hope that helps :)

  6. Accepted solution

hmmm test with a second display output or a different port. If artifacts move with the screen content in screenshots, its rendering (GPU). If they dont appear in a screenshot but do on teh monitor, the cable, port or monitor iteslf is involved.
