YOUR TAB MANAGEMENT HABITS, HONESTLY !!

  1. not gonna lie this is driving me nuts hi! :D say you do research-heavy work: docs, issue trackers, a couple of dashboards, plus whatever rabbit hole you fell into this afternoon... tabs pile up fast.

ive tried vertical tabs, tab groups and a strict "close at end of day" rule... none stuck for long. part of the problem is that each method works until I have a busy week, and then everything collapses back into one giant window, im less interested in clever extensions than in habits that survive real life.

Whats worked for u over the long term, not just the first week? pls help 🙏

  2. been there man two things to check. tab groups per project changed things for me lol when i switch tasks i collapse teh old group instead of closing it, which keeps the context without the visual noise. the key is naming teh groups; unnamed coloured blobs end up just as confusing as 80 loose tabs. worked for me anyway 🤷

  3. @cthorne Im not convinced "close everything daily" is good advice for everyone. If your work involves long investigations, rebuilding context every morning costs real time. A messy-but-recoverable session can be the more productive option; the goal is to feel in control, not to hit a small number. lmk how it goes

  4. @byteshed is the problem finding things, or the feeling of unfinished work hanging over you? Those need pretty different fixes.

  5. ahh right yes, i move between a desktop and a laptop, sooo whatever i use has to sync. that's partly why bookmarks keep winning over exetnsions. i've tried two session managers and both had sync quirks. sorry for the wall of text lol
