genuine question about update philosophy. my PC is stable on teh driver my PC came with. the new Radeon FireGL (Win2k/XP) for IBM laptops lists fixes that dont really affect me. do you update anyway for security and compatibility, or do you only update when a game or app needs it? i mostly do streaming. i am curious how other ppl handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken evening. what am i doing wrong??

Jump to the replyfor late-night TV, stability matters more than the newest game optimizations. if there's a separate stable/studio/recommended branch, that's usually teh better fit.
yeah so nothing in the release notes is critical for me, its mostly game-specific fixes. sorry for the wall of text lol
oh ive been there lol my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package so its ready, then try teh new one. if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall teh old one. that makes updating a low-risk experiment. hope that helps :)
yeahhh honestly just reset the power plan and save yourself the pain worked for me anyway 馃し

@vjansen-x5 omg finally read the known issues and one matched my setup exactly, so Im staying on the driver my PC came with for now... thanks for the sanity check.
