MY MONITOR WITH SPEAKERS HAS PICTURE BUT NO SOUND SINCE THE CATALYST DISPLAY DRIVER UPDATE

    long time lurker first post lol movie night, everyone's on teh couch, I hit play on teh PC hooked up to teh monitor with speakers and..... silence. Picture perfect, zero sound. The only thing I'd changed was installing AMD Catalyst Display Driver 9.6 earlier that day.

    The HDMI output used to show up as a playback devcie in Sound settings :/ Now its just gone. Speakers on the PC work fine. What did teh update do? pls help 馃檹

    been there man check the soundbars input settings. Some TVs and receivers renegotiate audio formats after a driver change. Power-cycling the soundbar with the PC on, or changing the TVs HDMI audio mode to PCM, can bring the endpoint back. worked for me anyway 馃し

    hmmm many GPU installers let you choose components in Custom install, and teh HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them... rerun teh AMD installer, chosoe Custom, and make suree the HD audio component is ticked. hope that helps :)

    nah tbh ive seen Express install skip HDMI audio only when the previous install had it unticked. A clean install is the surest way to reset that. just my 2 cents

    @packetworks omggg enabling it in mmsys.cpl plus power-cycling the monitor with speakers did it. HDMI audio is back with Catalyst Display Driver 9.6. u guys are the best!!!
