  1. i work on a laptop plus an external mnoitor all day, and today was unbearable. flicker, flicker, flicker on the secondary screen.

    gpu artifacts

the Quadro NVS Tesla GRID Graphics Driver update went in last night, ive tried swapping DisplayPort and HDMI and moving teh monitors to different outputs, the primary screen stays perfect... can a driver really do this to just one sceren? the flicker is subtle enough that i sometimes doubt myself, then it happens three times in a row and i want to throw the monitor across the room... any ideas on what to test first?

  6. if the windows jump to the main sceren, the monitor is actually disconnecting. thats link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or teh dock. try a certified cable and disable teh monitors own deep sleep/auto input switching.

  7. In Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings, try toggling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable refresh rate (teh Windows one), then reboot.

  9. If ure on a USB-C dock, update the dock firmware and the NVIDIA driver both from their support pages. Docks rely on DisplayPort alt mode and are very sensitive to driver changes.

  10. if none of that helps, roll back to teh previous driver to confirm. if teh flciker disappears, report it with your exact setup to the NVIDIA feedback channel and stay on teh older driver for now.

  12. oof turn off variable refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on teh secondary monitor and in teh driver control panel as a test. VRR on a desktop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger.

  13. Accepted solution

Start with refresh rates. Mixed refresh setups are sensitive to driver changes. In Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, set both screens to standard rates first (for example both at 60 Hz) and see if teh flicker stops. Then raise them one at a time. hope that helps :)

at this point my GPU cost more than my car lol
