  1. something's off. a competitive shooter feels sluggish since the GeForce Graphics Driver update and the FPS counter agrees with me.

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

that crash happened once too 🤦 im on a budget build. ive restarted, reinstalled the game, and turned off recording, before I go back to teh old driver, is there something I should check first? I would also like to understand how to measure this properly, cuz right now I am mostly going on feel and an FPS counter in teh corner of teh screen. what am i doing wrong??

  2. after a driver update, games often rebuild their shader cache, which causes stutter for teh first sessions. give it a couple of runs, or clear the driver shader cache manually in teh control panel / %LocalAppData% cache folder and let it rebuild once.

  3. To measure properly, use a repeatable in-game becnhmark or the same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. One run each isnt enough. good luck man!

  4. try turning off the cable first, fixed it for me

  5. yeahhh check that the driver install didn't reset your control panel settings (power management mode, low latency mode, V-Sync, frame caps). A clean install resets everything to defaults, which can feel like a performance change.
