    gpu artifacts

details: a laptop plus an external monitor... it goes black for a moment, comes back, sometimes teh windows jump to the main screen... ive rebooted plenty... id love a checklist rather than random tips, since Ive already tried random tips, i have about an hour tonight to test things, and i would rather go through them in a sensible order... tell me what you would check first and i will report back with results. seriously need help here 😭

  5. been there man if you're on a USB-C dock, update teh dock firmware and the AMD driver both from their support pages... docks rely on DisplayPort alt mode and are very sensitive to driver changes.

  6. If the windows jump to the main screen, the monitor is actually disconnecting. That's link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or the dock. Try a certified cable and disable the monitor's own deep sleep/auto input switching. worked for me anyway 🤷

  7. if none of that helps, roll back to teh previous driver to confirm... if the flicker disappears, report it with ur exact setup to the AMD feedback channel and stay on the older driver for now.

  8. in Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphcis settings, try toggilng Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable refresh rate (the Windows one), then reboot. good luck man!

  9. lol same thing happened to me turn off variable refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on the secondary monitor and in teh driver control panel as a test. VRR on a destkop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger.

  10. i wouldnt permanently cap the main monitor at 60 Hz just to fix this. disabling VRR on the secondary is usually enough.

  11. @irossi-2vw holy cow rolled back to the previous AMD driver and the flicker vanished. Reported it and Ill wait for the next release before trying again.
