  1. hmmmm ok i installed the AMD Mobility Catalyst Graphics Driver 14.6 Beta update last night and this morning my gaming laptop looked like this on the desktop:

    gpu artifacts

Little colored blocks, flickering lines, sometimes a whole strip of teh screen goes green for a moment. It doesn't crash, it just looks horrible. My stomach dropped cuz artifacts usually mean dying hardware, right? But it's suspicious that it started exactly after the update. How do I tell which one it is without spendnig money?

  4. ahh classic reset any overclock or undervolt, especially memory clock. artifacts that look like small colored blocks are often VRAM instability, and a driver update can change memory behavior enough to tip a marginal OC over.

  5. check that teh PCIe power connectors are fully seaetd and not melted or discolored. power issues can produce artifcats under load.

  6. Accepted solution

Do a proper clean install of the previous driver: downlaod it from the AMD support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves the problematic profiles in place.

  7. hmm idk safe Mode being clean doesnt fully clear teh hardware 🙏 Safe Mode barely loads the GPU, so a weak card can look fine there.
