  1. so annoyed rn my home-built tower is performing like it lost a generation. a racing sim stutters in places that used to be smooth, all after teh NVIDIA driver update.

id like to measure this properly instead of going on feel. whats the right way to compare two drivers? I have both driver packages downloaded already. I just do not want to run a dozen random tests and end up with numbers I cannot inetrpret. A simple, repeatable method would be perfect. any ideas??

  3. check Power Options: a Windows update or driver installer can switch to Balanced or a battery saver profile. on laptops, also check the manufacturers performance mode app.

  4. ahh classic after a driver update, games often rebuild their shader cache, which causes stutter for the first sessions. give it a couple of runs, or clear the driver shader cache manually in the control panel / %LocalAppData% cache folder and let it rebuild once.

  5. To measure properly, use a repeatable in-game benchmark or teh same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. One run each isnt enough. hope that helps :)
