  1. ok weird one i play a strategy game every evening on my gaming laptop and know exactly how it should feel. After installing ASUS ATI Graphics Driver 8.561.0.0, it's noticeably choppier, frame times are all over the place, and tonight it even crashed once:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

I havent changed any in-game settings. Temps look normal. Is it possible a driver update makes things this much worse, or am I imagining it?

  3. ok so to measure properly, use a repeatable in-game benchmark or the same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. One run each isnt enough. good luck man!

  4. After a driver update, games often rebuild their shader cache, which causes stutter for teh first sessions. Give it a couple of runs, or clear the driver shader cache manually in the control panel / %LocalAppData% cache folder and let it rebuild once.

  6. ehh frame time tools are great but honestly if it feels worse and the old driver feels better, rolilng back is a valid fix too.

  7. @tariq_ember WOWWW power plan back to High performance and two sessions to rebuild shaders. Stutter is gone on ATI Graphics Driver 8.561.0.0.

    DNS. its always DNS
