Accepted solution by Diego Yilmaz — yeahhh if artifacts persist after DDU and an older driver, and even appear in BIOS, back up your data and look into warranty... don't keep…
  1. i installed teh Intel Open Source Intel Graphics Driver 2.21.0 update last night and this morning my gaming dekstop looked like this in games:

    gpu artifacts

ltitle colored blocks, flickering lines, sometimes a whole strip of the screen goes green for a moment. it doesnt crash, it just looks horrible. my stomach dropped because artifacts usually mean dying harwdare, right? but its suspicious that it started exactly after teh update.. 🤦 how do i tell which one it is without spending money? what am i doing wrong??

  2. ur BIOS observation is a good clue. if artifacts appear only after Windows loads teh driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software. if they show up in BIOS too, think hardware.

  3. lol same thing happened to me do a proper clean install of teh previous driver: download it from the Intel support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves the problematic profiles in place.

  5. been there man check that the PCIe power connectors are fully seated and not melted or discolored. Power issues can produce artifacts under load. hope that helps :)

  6. ahh classic honestly just reset the power plan and save yourself the pain. spent half the night on artifacts and im still not done

  7. Reset any overclock or undervolt, especially memory clock. Artifacts that look like small colored blocks are often VRAM instability, and a driver update can change memory behavior enough to tip a marginal OC over.

  14. test with a second dsiplay output or a different port. if artifacts move with teh screen conetnt in screenshots, its rendering (GPU). if they dont appear in a screenshot but do on the monitor, the cable, port or monitor itself is involved.

    lol

yeahhh if artifacts persist after DDU and an older driver, and even appear in BIOS, back up your data and look into warranty... don't keep stress testing a card that shows artifacts in BIOS.

  16. @quietsmith-1ro yesss removed the memory overclock and teh artifacts in games disappeared even on Open Source Intel Graphics Driver 2.21.0 ;) the update just exposed an OC that was never stable. owe u a beer 🍺
