Accepted solution by Elif K. — oof for dual booting Linux, AHCI/non VMD mode is often simpler, tho newer kernels support VMD in many cases.
  1. hmmmm ok im planning a fresh insatll on my laptop and wondering how to handle storage drivers this time. Should i go with the vendors Rapid Storage Technology RST Optane Driver and RAID/VMD mode, or AHCI and teh inbox drievr? Priority for me is Linux dual boot. What would you choose and why? Im comfortable changing BIOS settings, i just want to make the decision once and not regret it later. What would u do in my shoes?

  2. oh ive been there lol switching on an existing install requires care: teh BIOS mode must match the driver at boot, use the safe mode method or set it up correctly from scrtach on a fresh install.

  3. lol same thing happened to me some laptops depend on VMD/RST mode for power features. If battery life is ur priority on a laptop, follow teh makers configuration. lmk how it goes
