  1. i work on two monitors at different refresh rates all day, and today was unbearable 🙏 Flicker, flicker, flicker on the secondary screen.

the Catalyst Crysis Hotfix Display Driver update went in last night. i've tried swapping DisplayPort and HDMI and moving the monitors to different outputs. the primary screen stays perfect. can a driver realy do this to just one screen? the flicker is subtle enough that i sometimes doubt myself, then it happens three times in a row and i wanna throw the monitor across the room. any ideas on what to test first?

  4. hmmm start with refresh rates... mixed refresh setups are sensitive to driver chnages, in Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, set both screens to stnadard rates first (for example both at 60 Hz) and see if the flicker stops, then raise them one at a time. lmk how it goes

  5. Turn off variable refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on the secondary monitor and in the driver control panel as a test. VRR on a desktop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger.

  6. In Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings, try toggling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable refresh rate (the Windows one), then reboot.

  7. Accepted solution

been there man if teh windows jump to teh main screen, the monitor is actually disconnecting. That's link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or teh dock. Try a certified cable and disable the monitor's own deep sleep/auto input switching. hope that helps :)

  8. nah tbh i wouldn't permanently cap the main monitor at 60 Hz just to fix this. disabling VRR on teh secondary is usually enoguh.
