  1. im literally losing my mind here flickernig secondary monitor since teh NVIDIA update.

    gpu artifacts

details: a laptop plus an external monitor... it goes black for a moment, comes back, sometimes the windows jump to the main screen, ive rebooted plenty. id love a checklist rather than random tips, since Ive already tried random tips... i have about an hour tonight to test things, and i would rather go through them in a sensible order... tell me what u would check first and i will report back with results.

  3. ok so if teh windows jump to the main screen, teh monitor is actually disconnecting. thats link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or the dock. try a certified cable and disable the monitors own deep sleep/auto input switching.

  5. hmmm start with refresh rates, mixed refresh setups are sensitive to driver changes... in Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, set both screens to standard rates first (for example both at 60 Hz) and see if teh flicker stops... then raise them one at a time. fingers crossed 🤞

ok so turn off variable refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on teh secondary monitor and in the driver control panel as a test. VRR on a desktop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger. hope that helps :)

  7. @routerranger rolled back to the previous NVIDIA driver and the flicker vanished... reported it and I'll wait for the next release before trying again.

the real fix was the friends we made along the way
