as a last resort you can extract the package and install the INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. if the INF doesnt list ur hardware ID, though, dont force it. hope that helps :)

  1. im literally losing my mind here this is so frustrating. Im trying to update teh graphics driver on my office PC, and teh official installer fails immediately:

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
    We couldn't complete the updates.
Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

    Error code: 0x800f0922

"Not compatbile with this version of Windows." Windows Update says I'm fully up to date. The Forceware Driver page supports Windows XP, Windows 2003 64-bit 😤 Is teh installer checking something besides teh OS version? I feel like I'm missing smth obvious. I even tried downloading it on another computer and copying it over, just in case teh file was corrupted. Same error, same instant failure. I am honestly running out of ideas. thx in advance!!

  2. that error is often misleading. installers check the GPUs hardware ID against their INF file, not just the OS. open Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and compare 😭 if you grabbed the desktop package for a laptop GPU (or vice versa), youll get this exact msesage.

  3. hmmm check ur Windows build with winver... newer driver packages can require a minimum feature update... if you're on an old build, install the pending feature update first and try again. good luck man!

  4. Make sure you picked teh right architecture and the right OS family. A package meant for a different Windows edition, or a server/workstation branch, will refuse with the same generic text.

  8. ahh classic run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if the installer fails on every version. A damaged component store can break driver installers in odd ways.

rgb adds +10 fps everyone knows that

  11. ok so some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics). in that case get the driver from the laptop makers support page, or use the generic NVIDIA package only if it explicitly lists mobile GPUs. hope that helps :)
