    not gonna lie this is driving me nuts im genuinely confused. picture on my AV receiver is great, but sound comes out of teh laptop speakers only.

    it started right after teh AMD driver update. ive checked the volume mixer, default device, everything i know of. theres simply no HDMI output to choose. is there a component i need to install separately? my family is now watching with subtitles and judging me, so any help would be very welcome. i am comfortable reinstalling teh driver if that is what it takes.

    Does mmsys.cpl show it as disabled or disconnected?

    In Device Manager, check Sound, video and game controllers for the GPUs HD audio device. Also try View > Show hidden devices. If its there but disabled, enable it. If its missing entirely, use Action > Scan for hardware changes. good luck man!

    been there man check the monitor with speakerss input settings. some TVs and reecivers renegotiate audio formats after a driver change, power-cycling the monitor with speakers with the PC on, or chagning the TVs HDMI audio mode to PCM, can bring the endpoint back. good luck man!

    I've seen Express instlal skip HDMI audio only when the previous install had it unticked. A clean install is the surest way to reset that. idk maybe im wrong lol
