long time lurker first post lol im on an old studio branch and everything works for everyday work. now AMD has Radeon Adrenalin Graphics Driver 26.6.1 out and the app keeps nagging me. part of me wants the fixes, part of me remembers the last time an update gave me black screens for a week. has anyone been running it for a while? any issues worth knowing before I click install? I would love a short, honest answer from people who have actually used it for a few weeks. pls help 馃檹
COLLECTING EXPERIENCES: RADEON ADRENALIN GRAPHICS DRIVER 26.6.1 FOR EVERYDAY WORK
A day of dwontime would be annoying for everyday work, but not a disaster. hope thats enough info 馃槄
for programming, stability matters more than the newest game optimizations. if theres a separate stable/studio/recommended branch, thats usually the better fit.
bump. still happening with gpu for me fingers crossed 馃
ok so driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, so I wouldn't stay on a very old version forever. But waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable.
lol same thing happened to me my approach: make a restore point, download teh previous driver package so its ready, then try the new one. If anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall the old one. That makes updating a low-risk experiment. fingers crossed 馃
@acastillo updated with a restore point and teh old installer ready... no issues at all for everyday work... good to have a plan instead of fear.
