    Longer version: my laptop came with a manufacturer-customized graphics driver. I wanted the newer one from AMD directly. Every installer I try says its incompatible with my Windows. Is teh laptop maker locikng this down, or is my Windows install broken? I would really prefer not to reinstall Windows just to update one driver. If there is a way to check what the installer is actually comparing, I would love to know it. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

    oh ive been there lol check your Windows build with winver... newer driver packages can require a minimum fetaure update, if ure on an old build, install teh pending feature update first and try again. hope that helps :)

    oof pro tip: write down what u change... i didnt and had to redo install from scratch

    run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if the installer fails on every version. A damaged component store can break driver installers in odd ways.

    @rafat538 installed teh pending Windows feature update, then Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.3 Hotfix Update went on without a single complaint 😂 the error was technically true, just unhelpful. thank u thank u thank u
