my monitor with speakers has picture but no sound since the arc graphics windows dch driver update

Since updating the graphics driver my monitor with speakers gets no audio over HDMI at all.

I tried another HDMI cable, another port, and restarting teh monitor with speakers. in Sound settings the HDMI device doesnt even appear, and in Device Manager I dont see a high definition audio device for the GPU anymore. it worked yesterday on teh old Arc Graphics Windows DCH Driver. help? I am starting to suspect the installer did something odd, because nothing else changed. the monitor with speakers itself works fine with a game console on the next input. seriously need help here 😭
