long time lurker first post lol genuine question about update philosophy 馃槄 My PC is stable on teh previous release. The new Arc Graphics Windows DCH Driver lists fixes that dont really affect me. Do u update anyawy for security and compatibility, or do you only update when a game or app needs it?? i mostly do video editing. i am curious how other ppl handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken evening.
how long do you wait before installing a new intel driver?
ahh classic my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package sooo its ready, then try the new one. If anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall the old one :D That makes updating a low-risk experiment.
@clopez did u ever fix it? ??
ok so for programming and some games, stability matters more than the newest game optimizations. If theres a separate stable/studio/reocmmended branch, thats usually teh better fit. worked for me anyway 馃し
yeahhh keep a short log of what driver youre on and when you changed it (
pnputil /enum-driversshows installed packages and dates). when something breaks later, youll know if teh timing matches.driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, so I woulndt stay on a very old version forever... but waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. worked for me anyway 馃し
@clopez Updated with a restore point and the old installer ready. No issues at all for video editing. Good to have a plan instead of fear. cant believe it was that simple lol
