  1. ugh. this is so frustrating. i'm trying to update teh graphics driver on my laptop, and teh custom install option fails immediately:

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
    We couldn't complete the updates.

"Not compatible with this version of Windows." Windows Update says I'm fully up to date. the GeForce Graphics Driver page supports Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7. is the installer checking something besides the OS version? I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I even tried downloading it on another computer and copying it over, just in case the file was corrupted. same error, same instant failure. I am honestly running out of ideas.

  4. some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics). in that case get the driver from the laptop makers support page, or use teh generic NVIDIA package only if it explicitly lists mobile GPUs.

  5. Accepted solution

Check your Windows build with winver. newer driver packages can require a minimum feature update. if you're on an old build, install teh pending feature update first and try again.
